Designing A Resume'

Resume' is a document that presents a brief summary of educational achievement with honors, if available, work experiences, skills, work experience, skills and qualifications, plus a brief list of references for good behavior and work performance. A resume' is also known as bio-data or curriculum vitae. (Agalabia, Rabe-Aranda, Alde-Sembrano, College Freshman English)

To design your resume', here are the specific areas that are usually included in the content:

1. Heading. This is located at the top of your resume. It identifies you through your contact information: your full name, address, e-mail (if you have one), and mobile or telephone number. your name should be emphasized by making it slightly bigger font than the others.

Along with the heading is your picture which is usually 2x2 in size. The picture should be formal, present and of course, it should be the real you. (Ignore the cute little panda above. :))

2. Employment Objective/s. This is a statement of your goals why you wish to apply. This also describes the kind of employment you are seeking. If this is clear in your cover letter or application letter, then you can omit this.
3. Educational Background. Other call  this as 'Scholastic Records'. Begin with the present and the highest degree you have attained. You can have this from vocational, tertiary, secondary and the least is elementary level.

4. Work Experience. This is your employment history. Always begin with the present or the last job you are employed in. List the position, employer's name or the company and include the job descriptions.
5. Professional Skills or Special Abilities. For some employers, they look at this part to know if the applicant really have the skills they are looking for. So, you can list essential skills and abilities you think may help them decide you can really become their asset.

6. Personal Data. This is just an option but can also be considered very important. Some employers are not contented with only the name and other things above that has been mentioned. They are also looking for personal data that fit to their requirements. You can include here other things such as list of honors, awards and other achievements you have.

7. Character References. This is the part you should not forget. Here, you can cite at least two people who really know you, he can be your close friend, neighbor, former employer but not your family. Their contact information such as full name, home address, title or position, address of business, company or organization he belongs to and contact number.

These persons will be contacted by your employer to ask them personally about your behavior and to certify the information you have included in your resume.

Be sure to end your resume with a statement like this:

Of course, affix your signature in the bottom right of your resume.

Now, get started and ready to apply! ☺
